December 2014

The men found these 2 sets of deer horns wrapped in barbed wire.  The deer must have been fighting, got caught in the barbwire, and died there.  Sorry about that, but the remains tell the story.
We had a fun December with elk hunters that have hunted so often with us that they have become good friends.  They ended up staying 10 days as it was summerlike for the first part of the hunt, and all the elk stayed on the high mountains. Then it started snowing like crazy!
They brought seafood from Delaware and Maryland and cooked us supper one night.  These were crab cakes.

Richard was the cook.

Soft shell blue crab (a delicacy) you eat shell and all.

My dishwasher went on the fritz, so George and the hunters tore into it, You Tube gave us some pointers, and they got it fixed.

They would walk over in the dark, morning and evening for meals at our house. It was snowing in this picture, so they took some  'light in the window' type pictures.

Plenty of snow here to make the hunters happy! Internet dish in the background in case you wondered! Don't ever get Hughesnet, I might add.

View from the back deck.

Chained up 4 wheel drive was the only way they could get anywhere.

Happy hunters!
The last night of their stay, we exchanged pictures from our cell phones to document the whole hunt.

Clayton came to hunt elk during Christmas break.  We had a nice time with him, played games, etc. Shot elk too!

Fun times with Chet and Chase and the ZN cousins. Reading Calvin and Hobbs.
