Mothers Day May 11

Elizabeth having tea with Grandma.

Drilling holes in the bottom of a pot for mom's mothers day plant.

Strawberries are coming on in the greenhouse.

The windows are so caked with snow this Sunday that we can't see out any direction.  All the roads from Utah to Cheyenne are closed.  Chris had company, so we had a nice mtg this morning.  No one from away from here could come.

To Chris and Kate's for lunch.  Drifts are above my boot tops.  :(

George still in his Sunday clothes shutting off ditches.  Lots of water in this snow, things freeze shut and flood, so this is and ounce of prevention.

My tulips....the second time they've been snowed on in the past 2 weeks.

Chris cooked prime rib for Mother's Day lunch.  DEEE--licious!!

The snow is drifting along the irrigation ditches as we go to turn them off.  Pretty soon it will start caving off.  George had to mention that we don't have cell service right here, and if we slid off into the water we would probably drown or get hypothermia.  I had already thought of that and tried NOT to think about it if I could help it!!
The next 2 pictures are 2 weeks later...May 25.  Wyoming people and plants have to be very hardy!  Same place, different day!

Back to business mid April 2014

The night of the "blood moon" eclipse of the moon.  Enjoying the beautiful evening at home.

George is happy to be irrigating and fixing ditches again.

Another dramatic view of the clouds and the mtn.

More irrigating and walking at the Miller place.

Look close to see the horny toads are out already.

The black ibis are busy looking for food.

Heading north. 2100 miles to go.

We started out Monday about 9:30.  It seemed like a good percentage of the snowbirds had the same idea.  We got held up behind 3 wrecks in different areas, and finally got going in the pouring rain.  there were flood warnings along the way, but we saw lots of water off the highway, but it didn't affect us.

Backed up, loading for home.

A lot of other people had the same idea!
We stayed a half hour south of Chattanooga, TN the first night.  We managed to hit part of the rush hour there in the morning, and the time changed just in time for us to get into the morning  rush hour in Nashville.  We drove 14 hours the 2nd day, hit the 5pm rush hour in Kansas City.  We got as far as Lincoln NE the second night.  About 4 pm, Wed, we pulled into the ranch.

Be it ever so windy, snowy, and cold.....there's NO place like home.  Great to see Elk Mtn come into view.
We got home just before a snow storm when the roads were all closed.  One of our Florida friends told his wife,,,"What is wrong with some people??!!"

Boca Grande-the last day.

We rented a golf cart for 2 hours and went all over the area, it had 3 seats and plenty of room for everyone.  The fishermen explored kayak put in areas, and made plans for next year.

How strange to see this sign on Boca Grande, 2139 miles from home!

A neat restaurant on the beach there.

Soaking up the sunshine for the wintry days ahead at home!

April 3 Back at Rum Bay

Waiting to go kayaking.

Caught from the kayak up coral Creek...a flounder, maybe??

We had a nice day to run over to Rum Bay.  Part of the supper is the 15 minute water taxi ride over there.

Eating out side in the "warm"  so NOT like home!!

We took a little walk behind the restaurant to the beach....uncrowded as it is only used by the people staying on that island.

Riding the water taxi across Lemon Bay
