Family time

Cousin Laurel has been in the far east, is passing through on the way to South America for 3 months.  Her mom, my aunt, is enjoying this week with her and visiting some family.
This is a lamp like the 10 virgins used in the Bible story.  Laurel told us about how they were used to bring light to a house and see where a person was going.   The 5 foolish were hoping someone else had taken time and money to buy the oil so everyone could have light.  It is so interesting as we have no real  idea what it was talking about. We just use a flashlight, or flip on the electric lights.  Houses over there still have no lights or windows in some places.

October 3rd week

The kids were excited to celebrate grandpa's birthday. Looks like I took the picture before they were ready!!
We took Dusty, Kate, and Liz to Denver to get his hard cast. There were some slick, snowy roads between Cheyenne and Laramie.

Fun days with friends

We brought Mike and Sue over for a picnic tonight. It is the only picnic George and I have been on this year. We got it done before the snow came!
Everything tastes better outdoors!
You can feel fall in the air!
The fellows providing meat for the table!
Richard and Mike. We will see them in Florida in a couple of months.

Shipping day surprise Oct 11

Chris was down here way before daylight...5 am, half the crew was shipping at the Overland Lease, 8 Cowboys here.
I had to lighten all the pictures. It was barely daylight.
There was lots of wind, cold.
The school called. Dusty fell off the monkey bars and broke his arm. Liz was answering Kate's house phone, Kate not available, so Chris tore off to town to the doctors office. They saw a bad break.  Then over the Snowy Range the ortho clinic couldn't do surgery there, sent them to Denver Children's hospital. By the time they got to Laramie, and then to Denver, they were not able to do surgery until Wednesday morning. Luckily, Kate had her part of the food prepared, and brought it down before leaving.  I had friends from NJ visiting, so they helped so much carrying food to the greenhouse for lunch for 20 plus men. It blew and rained during lunch, so was a good place to be. If it is nice weather, we set up picnic tables on the lawn.
Hurry up, then wait, and wait!

Dusty waiting some more.
Hazen made him a card. He had carried Dusty to the principal's office from the jungle gym. Dusty tries to be very tough, he didn't want to cry in front of anyone, but a broken arm really hurts a guy!!
3 pins put it back together.
Mr Rangich, the elementary principal came out to the ranch to see Dusty. He brought him some treats. He had carried Dusty to the Drs office in Saratoga and saw the X-ray, and sat with him until Chris got there. So he was interested and involved in the incident. He's a pretty special guy. He was my boys 5th grade teacher.

It was 15 degrees Oct 12 morning. Foggy.
The cows had frosty ears and top knots. I just had the phone camera, so it's not too clear.

Shipping Oct 4

Kate got this cute shot of Liz and a butterfly.

It was so cold and windy this morning, we set the picnic tables up in the green house. It was very cosy. No one had to take off their dirty boots or coats.
At least until the sun came out from under the cloud. Then it warmed up immediately!
