January 30

This is such a happy picture of George's parents. They were married 65 years July 2016.
Liz has been sleeping with a little Bible from Grandma Nelda....on a vintage embroidered pillow case Jane gave me.
The mountain turns bright pink for about 5 minutes every evening. Pictures don't do it justice!

Jan 15

We had freezing fog and snow for 2 days.
The white stands out against the blue blue sky.
3 little cousins enjoying Sunday lunch.
You can't see Jerm and Amy's bushes. They have 2-3' of snow on the level. There is no place to go with it. The boys have a 5' high snow fort on either side of the driveway. Good thing they don't get much wind here. They would be snowed in for sure. Snow basin ski area is 20 minutes away. Makes for good powder skiing. Feet of snow in the past few days.

January 13

We headed to Cheyenne to be with Pres on Jan 12. Nadine is headed to Texas today. Had to wait because the interstate was closed. Our side opened at 9 am. Westbound didn't open til after 2 pm.
We got ahead of the big group of trucks. All the snow fences are full.
100"s of semis and cars lined up in Laramie and again in Cheyenne. The interstate has been closed for over a day now.
This is why the road is closed. Trying to clean it up. It was out towards Rock Springs.
George's aereator that he was so happy with didn't survive the terrible winds we've been having!
This is when it was first put in and working well.

George took Pres over to Point Frontier for lunch where his apartment was. This lady was at the front desk. Always very nice to them.  It was a happy and sad time. So many changes in the past 3 weeks.

January 10

The kids like to play different things, I fixed them up red shirts and game warden badges.
This herd of elk ran across in front of me on the ZN Road this morning.
Another beautiful morning where we live.

Fischer Lee

This is Kates account on his 11th birthday.

Our first baby. He weighed 2 pounds 15 3/4 ounces. He was 13 1/4 inches. He was born 3 months early because I slipped on the ice. I remember I laughed when I fell. It didn't seem like a big deal until later when I was riding in an ambulance to Laramie. We ended up being sent to Denver in a jet plane (because the wind was too bad for a helicopter), and then I had to ride a helicopter to the top of PSL. Chris and I spent a couple of days in PSL.  The plan was for me to stay in the hospital until Fischer was farther along in his gestational growth. Then on the morning of January 10th they woke us up at 4am for an emergency c-section. They threw Chris some blue clothes, and whisked me away to get ready for surgery. Fischer is holding the sign the nurses made for him in the NICU. It is really hard to remember him being so tiny. He is almost as tall as me. It is hard to think that when he was born he was a little longer than a ruler. He is almost eleven. I can't believe it. Happy upcoming birthday Fischer Lee.

January 5

Very cold and 10" of snow on the ground in Cheyenne. We've been staying near to help Pres transition to the nursing home.
Everything is boxed and ready for the movers today at Pres and Nelda's old apartment.
Pres has been pretty confused. The shock of the broken hip, Nelda passing, and moving into a completely strange environment....the nursing home, is hard on him.
Here are the wind chills last night.
This was the temp when we went to bed. It went farther down to -37.
Going in to the Double Eight.
The interstate east of Laramie. Was totally snow packed and slick. Everyone was going slow. No slide offs. Just trucks that had jelled fuel from the cold.
Chris hand shoveled so we could unload our car.
