Sunday after the snow and blow stopped...

Grpa and Chris got the old cat dozer started and built some curtains to break the wind...I think it is older than the two of them added together. The wind went down, and they are dozing out the cattle guard so they can get through tomorrow morning.

Sunday morning

The interstates and smaller highways past our place are closed this morning. We had more snow and high winds in the night. When the sun comes up, we will be able to see what it left us. That means no one can come out for meeting this morning ;( The highways have been closed about every 3 days for several weeks. Like Jen wrote in a comment, this is just a season and will pass on to the next season soon.....so for now I am looking for SIGNS OF SPRING!!

A couple of anniversaries today

How things change! This is Nov 2007.

Scott and his brothers on his wedding day in 2001.

Scott and Renee 6 years ago today.
The family...only 1 grandson, 6 years ago.

George and Susie 1972. ...35 years ago.

It was a nice day, we all wore our summer coats. Today here, it is a -9 degrees with quite a bit of snow on the ground. The scans are a little fuzzy...maybe that is best ;)

White Christmas

They finally stopped snowblowing when the sun was setting. It made the plume of snow stand out.
I shoveled part of the driveway this morning, but I soon got tired of that! The snowblower was much faster.

These are all out of order. Just when I think I know what I am doing....I don't!! This is getting out at Grandma's house for lunch. Note the snow on Chris's hat.

Sunday update....

An old homestead along the Rattlesnake Road.
A cool view...

This was our transportation to Chris's birthday lunch this noon. The snow was blowing so that we could hardly see and the tracks were blowing full, so a 4 wheel-drive tractor seemed a good safe ride!! It was only 2 miles, and Grpa G has a "buddy seat" for any hitch-hikers!

Here was the view of Chris and Kate's house.

A little snuggle time with Hazen.

Watching the hunters from the truck.

Happy Birthday to Chris

The most recent picture of Chris and his family Thanksgiving 2007.
All the pictures on this post are totally out of order...guess you all can tell what are recent shots and what are from 31 years ago to the present!! Here is Chris doing one of the things he enjoys.

A happy guy.
The backpack photo is the first day of school. The next is smiling with the brothers.

Summertime in the hayfield.

I am sure Chris would call this one of the best days of his life!!

Fishing with dad and the bros....Then little Fischer came along...2 3/4 pounds little!

Sharing a special day with his brothers.

Visiting Jerm and Amy this fall.

Taking a break with baby Fischer.

Sunny Saturday.....

The view from the back deck Saturday morning....doesn't GrpaG make nice designs in the snow with the tractor??

Red in the morning....

The sunrises have been so beautiful with the clouds and the bright colors. We have had lots of wind during the day. Remember the old saying, Red in the morning, sailors take warning...it must be true in the ranch country too!

More of the same

Chris is keeping the snowblower going regularly. It was -15 degrees this morning Brrr....every time the wind blows it drifts the roads and sidewalks in deeper. We dig it out and pile it on the side and it gives a deeper edge to fill in with snow.

Frosty and foggy....

The sunrise was so "grand" this morning....the fog is rolling in from the right and the clouds are moving steadily to the left. Only the mountain tops are peeking out. It is 9 degrees, so covering up a bit seems wise!!

Notice the little caps of snow on top of the fence posts still and the snow on the east side of the bell. The wind hasn't blown them off yet. Our deck is 3 steps up and the snow we have pushed off is even with the floor.

This is the view from the front of the house where Grpa G is pushing the snow back for company. I love the way the snow "frosts" the haystacks and the rocky hills.

More Saturday pictures

The snow DOES make everything pretty.

I had some neat videos of the feeding and Grpa G plowing snow, but blogger won't take them tonight.
The antelope were along the road by the thousands....I am NOT exaggerating!! They are having trouble finding food as the snow was really wet, and froze in hard and crusty. they will be migrating west towards the river as soon as the snow is not so deep.

We have company coming through Monday so wanted to get some of the snow moved back before it gets packed in too hard.

One Snowy Week Later....

I had to go out and brush the snow off the sattellite dish so I could get a signal for the internet....what a beautiful day, if you don't have to get out on the highway! I wonder if we will be able to make it 100 miles to the east for a special meeting there tomorrow.

Some random photos....

This is the view from my back deck this morning. It is typical special mtg weather...we could go 150 miles to the north, or 150 miles to the east tomorrow. We decide by checking the road report. This is usually the week we really start getting snow in Wyoming!! Some years we just have to stay home because of the weather.
Can you remember what fun a big box is to play in?? This one has become a house with doors and windows to look out of. When it is off the rug, it even becomes a "mobile home", it slides around wherever you want to go!! I should clarify, that it is NOT Grpa and Grma that are crawling into the house....it is Fischer!

I can't believe that we only took 1 picture when we visited Jeff and family this week. This one is thanks to Grpa G.
