A collection of pictures....

The cacti are blooming right now. There will be more blooms in a few days. Lots of "future" flowers!

George mounting the lunchbox-fencer on the electric pole.

George has used the lunch boxes from past haying seasons to protect the electric fencers from the elements. This was per the suggestion of the fencing material supplier. He pokes some holes in strategic places for the wires and plugs to come through. If you buy a cover box from a supply company, it is very pricey!

Nice kitty! You just sit right here, and I will stay back here!

A patient partner....

Fischer likes to go with Grpa checking cattle, etc. He sits close to Grpa with his seatbelt on for safety. They can hear each other better when they are close, too. It is a little more comfortable for more than one person than the 4 wheeler.
Grandpa takes a call in his "office". Cell phones are handy for us. If you get stuck...call for help and you don't have to walk 5 miles (or more) before you see another human. If someone has a question, or needs to get in touch with Grpa, I just give them his cell number. Then he doesn't have a long list of folks to call when he gets home at night...and they have all gone home til tomorrow!

The end of the day...

This was the scene to the east when we left Sunday evening. The top rainbow was very wide, and the low rainbow seemed to be double. This picture through the front windshield doesn't do it justice at all...it was beautiful. The storm clouds in the sunset, made the wheat fields really stand out!

Grandpa's new friend....

We have been busy going in and out of the house, loading the camper to go to convention and we noticed something looking in the glass beside the door....it was a fox pup. George talked to it out the window. It just cocked it's head and listened and came closer. George lured it up with doggy bacon strips and it ate out of his hand. We have two fox families under the calving shed. George was dehorning cattle a couple of weeks ago, thought the dog was sniffing at his glove, looked down, and there was a fox. Now that I think about it, it was probably distracting us while its mother jumped into our trash barrel and threw the garbage out all over the yard!! :( That seems to be a nightly occurance!

Scenes of summer

We went for a drive today. The wild iris are blooming now.

Click once to see 2 newborn antelope close-up. We snapped a picture and left quickly. They were in the ditch on the side of the road. After a few hours, they can run like the wind, but these hadn't gotten up yet.

Random pictures

Kate went to Denver for a couple of days, so Fischer and Hazen stayed with Grama and Grampa. We played hard and slept hard! The house is sure empty and quiet since they went home this morning. Jazz....Grandpa's new "cow dog" keeping the cows away from reaching through the fence. Vinyl fence wasn't made for yearlings searching for the "greener grass on the other side". Luckily, the slats have just popped out of place, not broken.

Fischer enjoying a sunny day eating in the pasture where Dad and Grandpa were moving cattle. this was a couple of weeks ago....no sunny days lately! We have gotten inches of rain, along with hail, thunder and lightning. A couple of weeks ago after reading the weather report, Fischer and I looked up thunder and lightning on Youtube....the next day we got lots of it. It wasn't so scarey when he knew what it was. The drought is over for this week anyway!
