Shipping day surprise Oct 11

Chris was down here way before daylight...5 am, half the crew was shipping at the Overland Lease, 8 Cowboys here.
I had to lighten all the pictures. It was barely daylight.
There was lots of wind, cold.
The school called. Dusty fell off the monkey bars and broke his arm. Liz was answering Kate's house phone, Kate not available, so Chris tore off to town to the doctors office. They saw a bad break.  Then over the Snowy Range the ortho clinic couldn't do surgery there, sent them to Denver Children's hospital. By the time they got to Laramie, and then to Denver, they were not able to do surgery until Wednesday morning. Luckily, Kate had her part of the food prepared, and brought it down before leaving.  I had friends from NJ visiting, so they helped so much carrying food to the greenhouse for lunch for 20 plus men. It blew and rained during lunch, so was a good place to be. If it is nice weather, we set up picnic tables on the lawn.
Hurry up, then wait, and wait!

Dusty waiting some more.
Hazen made him a card. He had carried Dusty to the principal's office from the jungle gym. Dusty tries to be very tough, he didn't want to cry in front of anyone, but a broken arm really hurts a guy!!
3 pins put it back together.
Mr Rangich, the elementary principal came out to the ranch to see Dusty. He brought him some treats. He had carried Dusty to the Drs office in Saratoga and saw the X-ray, and sat with him until Chris got there. So he was interested and involved in the incident. He's a pretty special guy. He was my boys 5th grade teacher.

It was 15 degrees Oct 12 morning. Foggy.
The cows had frosty ears and top knots. I just had the phone camera, so it's not too clear.
