Heading South

Backed up to the house to load the suitcases.  30 hour drive to Florida.  First night in Nebraska.

The construction around the arch in St Louis was interesting.  We got off the wrong exit once, but were soon back on track.  Night #2 was in Paducah, Kentucky.  Sunday morning meeting there then headed out after lunch.  Oak Grove 30 miles south of Atlanta Sunday night.  To the destination Monday 3 pm.

All seems well here.

Had to drive 15 minutes to watch the sun set on the ocean.
No furniture except 2 chairs in the living room.

Here comes the furniture truck!

We have to put the end tables together.

A nice map of the harbor on the wall.

Early January 2014

We came home from Scotts to find sootballs and residue all around the heater ducts in the house.  Obviously, something was wrong with the furnace.  It has blown out in strong winds all of its life.  We had to worry and have someone check it anytime we were gone in the winter.  We had a new efficient one installed right after the New Year.  Now no worries.

We went up to Jeff's for a few days.  Sadly, this was the only picture
I took.  Guess we were too busy visiting and George enjoyed going with Jeff as he went about his work.

Cousin Laurel newly back from the Mediterranean area came to visit a few days.  Her car and tires didn't fare well in our snowy country.  She did make it to the next town safely.  The roads were terrible with limited visibility, blowing and drifting snow, and slick....our usual for this time of year.

George got busy with the snow blower so folks could get in Sunday morning.  It seemed to blow back in as fast as he blew it out!!

December 2013

Beautiful place to live'

Pictures with a famous NASCAR driver hunting with us....he signed their caps.
This group hunted the second week of December.  30 degrees below zero with wind=40 below windchill.  It was brutal, but they got 4 bull elk, which was unbelievable!  Of course they had good guides, George, Chris and Scott!!  :)

David telling Chris what he thought they should do.

Tea party with cousin Allison.

Game time.

A "selfie" with Allison

Nephew Martin and Sitka were married in December.

Sweet little E.

George decided to go elk hunting christmas morning all by himself...cut it in half and got it out himself.

another beautiful evening.

Grandpa Pres age 84 going hunting with George.

George's elk all loaded.

Chris had a fun time hog hunting in Texas at Christmastime.  All of Kate's siblings were able to get together at her moms house....5 little grandsons and 1 grandaughter!

Chris also caught a giant redfish in Louisianna.

By the Sea again October 26

The Long Beach Peninsula drew us again. Lacey and mom flew out and spent the week after the auction with us.
We stopped for the night at J and A's.  Jace's note was so sweet wanting us to stop back by...we could NOT miss stopping again!

Such a neat sculpture and fountain at the Bonneville dam and fish hatchery east of Portland.

                                                      So many beautiful mushrooms!

Sunset through the sea oats.

Jogging on the beach=fun times!

Lacey, George, and Buddy.

Beautiful sunsets.

The path to the beach always beckons
Now the path is marked from the beach.  The sand has drifted in so much, that the old marker is quite aways back and hard to see.  The former owner said she could throw a rock to the beach when they bought the house 30 years ago.

Buddy is happy to be at the beach.

This flower was on a bush at the front door.

Some friends from Washington took George and Lacey crabbing one morning.  They got all 5 limits.  12 crab each. That is a lot of crab to clean, but Oh, so delicious!

The view behind the boat.  Lacey's first boat ride on the ocean.  Brave girl!

Full crab traps.

Cleaning 24 crab.
