Horn hunting

Chris found several fresh elk sheds.
The horns got heavy by the time he got to the bottom of the mtn.

Dorlene helping Fischer clean chocolate off the tinfoil. We had a picnic at the fishing pond that Grpa G built for the grandkids.

Jana found a mtn lion kill....a deer carcass. The skull was still attached to the backbone and the nose was eaten off...the nose is a delicacy for lions we hear.

Hazen and dad.

Fischer carrying horns to the truck.

Sage chicken watching

This morning we watched the sage grouse doing their spring dance. My camera doesn't have much of a zoom, so I am hoping to borrow some better pictures for the blog.

Pictures from last week

Chris and Grpa playing some harmonica music.
Checking out the "antique" toys with Great Grandma.

Grpa has been on the phone a lot. Here he is enjoying great-nephew Corbin. Fischer got to read books with Great Grandpa Milt.

Clayton really enjoyed this job!

Cowdog school....

Puppies and little boys go together. These 3 got to come to the cows and calves yesterday. You can see Hazen thinks it is time to go outside without shoes if the deck is bare and the sun is shining a little. There is still a lot of snow on the ground. Getting used to cattle and trying to learn to mind.

Snowy day!

My pictures turned out from end to beginning, but the highway closed last night because of limited visibility and blizzard winds. The mountans got 2-3 feet of snow...this road goes by the 2 feet area. The snow plow was parked at the road closure gate. It is the last picture...note the snow caked all over the truck. Then the patrol was blocking the road while the sand truck went ahead. Then we followed the 2 patrol with flashing lights for 50 miles going 35 miles per hour. we had an appointment we were late for, but there were trucks and cars lined up sinced last night at 8:30 pm so there were miles of vehicles. the road was sanded and plowed, but still pretty slick in spots. What a change from Monday's warmth and tropical weather. This is the patrol ahead of us. Click once.

More warm memories....

I wanted one picture of a sunrise over the ocean...my batteries fell out and the date got messed up. Grpa G relaxing the last morning...watching the sunrise.

We went for a drive on sunday afternoon. This alligator was along Alligator Alley (a road south of Miami).

I post these for my grandkids, so proceed at your own risk...

Some neat things...

I thought these narrow streets were quite interesting. The taxi driver would just beep his horn, or park in an inlet and let people go by. People didn't seem to be going anywhere terribly fast!
I love flowers, and always have to take home a picture. I doubt I can spell it, but this is bougenvillia.
This is the underside of a sea urchin. A man was taking them out of the sea and letting people hold it.

I thought this tip begging sign was unique.

Dad and George and our driver...a Caddilac Escalade!

There are double ships lined up here. ..and one more out in the bay that brings people on shore on little boats. The ones behind us will have to pull out first.

The market on St Martin.

They were selling spices in bulk. Ladies were buying like crazy.
