A stormy day

This is what the storm looked like from Rock River...beautiful, puffy, clouds....so when you see clouds like this, you know that over there somewhere, someone is having a powerful storm! There was a tornado came out of this cloud by Chugwater. There were quite a few storm chasers in the area looking up into the rotating clouds, hoping there would be a tornado.

One of the medium sized hailstones that pounded George while he hooked up the camper. He waited to change into dry clothes until we were down the road 10 miles away from the storm. We only found one dent in the pickup so far.
Cousin Laurel about to go across the ocean for 5 years or so.

The beautiful view from our camper. We have parked in this spot for 20 years or more. I always look forward to the sunsets.

Clouds make the sunset more beautiful.

A beautiful Tuesday

Chris is getting all the yearlings moved to new grass so we can be gone a few days this week. His helpers are there behind his horse.
The fresh snow looks so crisp and beautiful on top of the mountain. It is nice to see blue sky again.

Lots of water, and haying season.

Putting up the hay and feeding the hay crew 2010. Feeding the hay crew 2008.
Putting up the hay 2008.

These teepees are by the river at Encampment where Keith is watching 1000 yearlings. There is a lot of flooding there too.

Helping Grandpa out....literally!

We are having the MOST flooding that this area has seen since 1957, but the work still must go on. Grandpa G was taking mineral to the cattle when he found, quite by accident, that they had tromped this gate out pretty deep, then it filled with water and washed away the dirt. He called me on the cell phone, walked to the road over a mile, we came home and got the 4 wheel drive tractor for the rescue operation....then Gramasusie, who doesn't like to get her feet muddy, had to drive the Ranger back through all the water to the county road! The water running onto the floorboards washed the mud out from the "stuck in the mud" episode! Oh yes, he warned me wear your tallest rubber boots!! Luckily, Grpa had some shoulder length plastic gloves in the truck so he could hook the chain up under water.
Notice the clouds. We have had lots of rain every day this past week.

Mission accomplished!!

Just another regular day on the ranch....

I have been going with Grpa G quite a bit lately in the Ranger putting out mineral, fencing, etc. We saw this badger the other day running along the road. Then this killdeer chick....

The cattle behind Chris and Kate's house...the mountain all clouded in...it was raining down here.

Two helpers this morning..

Grpa G putting mineral in the tubs, Chris and Kirby checking for sickness.

Working hard, but enjoying it!

Car trouble, so the Durango is getting a free ride to town. Chris pulled the wrecker out last year, so he is returning the favor.

Take time to smell the flowers...

One week ago, we were having a blizzard. It has been nicer this week. These tulips have struggled to finally bloom! Fischer and Hazen checking the flowers out.

Sunday afternoon

Keith, our resident bachelor, baked this peach pie from scratch and brought it to the potluck after meeting Sunday! WOW! It was delicious! Grpa and Dusty taking a snooze.

The snowy Range opened Saturday...lots of snow there.1

Medicine Bow Peak is always beautiful.
