Friday

These are some shots of getting the cattle in this morning. They trailed them home yesterday 6 miles. The county had to come plow through some of the snow drifts so they could get the tractor home too. It had been snowed in where the cows were being fed, for over 4 weeks. They had to carry fuel to the tractor in 5 gal buckets on a snow machine.

They dug a trench with the CAT dozer yesterday so the cows could get through here. I forgot to put the digital card in the camera, or George would have gotten some really neat pictures trailing them home.

Fun visitors

Fischer wanted to go sledding with his cousins, and his gloves weren't to be found, so dad made use of some handy electrical tape and shut the ends of his sleeves so his hands wouldn't get cold!!

Larkin and Allison doing some snowmobiling with Uncle Chris.
Reading books with Aunt Kate. The oldest and youngest grandkids.

Where does the time go?? If I have my figures right, this was 5 years ago today!!

The wedding party. I am having trouble getting my labels for the pictures in the right place. Some of them are self explanitory.
The family now.
The first addition to the family.

A new week, a new snow white page....

This is leaving Chris and Kate's yard by the little schoolhouse. The drifts were way higher than our head.
They had to doze with the cat to get the propane man in. I think they may have had to pull him in and out!

This is Gary's house in the main yard to the left. Clayton's house is to the right.

This is the way we pull out of Chris and Kate's yard. They had plowed it for the propane man...hold on, it gets pretty bumpy!! I had to turn the camera off and hang on.

Fischer would say...oopsey, stuck in the snow again!

This is the gate into Chris and Kate's yard. He had it cleared out 3 days ago. When they tried to go back home after having lunch with us that day, it was drifted too deep to drive through again. The drift is about 6' deep.
These are the corrals at the Kamp ranch. They look pretty snowy and drifted up. The wooden posts are 8 feet tall. The tub and alley behind the chute (in the middle )you can't even see...they are covered completely. We wanted to work cattle in these corrals this spring, but won't be able to. We will have to trail the cattle home 5 miles to give them their shots before calving. Chris or George will have to plow a path home with the CAT as the county can't get the roads open. There are 6' drifts across the county roads. Oh, did I mention that we are snowed in??;)

Back to reality

The highways have been closed for several days and the snow and wind have made blizzard conditions. This has gone on for about 2 months now. The tractor is snowed in about 5 miles from here and the men carry fuel to it in 5 gal buckets. George commutes on a snowmachine early in the morning....that is a COLD trip! We should have water to irrigate with next spring.

Did this really happen??

It seems like a dream that we were in the sunshine last week. The pictures prove we were there, but it didn't take long to get back into the swing of closed roads and blizzards! Our stateroom. If you have 3 or 4 people in the room, bunks fold out of the ceiling.
Each night when we came home from supper, our bed was made up, a chocolate on each pillow and a different towel animal.

There was a mandatory lifeboat drill for everyone.
This was Radiance of the Seas pulling up alongside in Cozumel.

Sun on the water.

This is relaxing on a day at sea.

We never did feel crowded and there were over 3000 guests plus crew on the ship.

The highlight of our trip was getting to Sunday morning mtg in Houston twice and the afternoon meeting with a sister that had been in my folks field for 8 years.
