Cattle comin' late May
The trucks turn down the road to the left, stop, and then back up to the chute. The other trucks stay on the incoming road until it is their turn. The cattle run down the stock drive lane and are turned in at the pasture gate.
I count the cattle off the trucks as we get paid for pasturing each animal. The big boys are in school, so Dusty and Elizabeth get to join in. The men chain the cattle chute to the cattle guard to hold it steady, then the cattle run down the lane to their summer pasture.
It is pretty exciting to watch all the semi trucks pull up, then back around to park precisely at the chute opening.
It is fun to have little people along. They add excitement to a possibly boring time!
