One fine spring day....

If every spring day were like this day, Wyoming might get overpopulated!! (smile) This is the scene walking down the (washed out in spots) road towards my house.

Is it summer yet??

Kate and boys brought a sandwich down for Chris before the cattle trucks came to unload....15 of them. It was starting to snow a little. As we progress, you might have to click once to get the full snowy benefit!! Trucks started lining up to unload.

The snow was cold, wet, and windblown...Chris's ears were freezing and getting coated with snow.

Adjusting the unloading chute.

Grpa is ready.

Note...Kate went home and brought Chris and Keith winter hats. It was nice when they left the house this morning.

The snow started sticking.

Cattle coming....

Thank goodness we are finally warming up a little so the grass is greening up! The trees are still bare of leaves. Moving cattle to another pasture....to keep the grass healthy, and the cattle happy!

How high's the water, mama??

When we woke up about 4:30 this morning, we heard the water rushing. It was too dark to see much, but we could see the water shining in the predawn light. George went out to see how bad the roads were washing out.
This is a place on Rattlesnake Road where we have cattle.
We are going to have to unload cattle semis on the county road, now. This road will be too soft for awhile. The edges are washing down the creek.

There is a bridge here somewhere! This is what happens here when we get 70 degree weather...the snow in the mountains above us, melts. Then you add a couple of inches of rain, and you get what you see here!

Imaginary clothes...

Fischer and Hazen were branding in their underwear. I asked them if they were going to wear any clothes?? Hazen said, "Grandma, we are wearing imaginary clothes!!"

A field trip with Grandpa...

I could not believe my eyes yesterday when I looked at the thermometer. We haven't seen these numbers for a loooong time! Grandpa invited me to go to the Sheep Mtn pasture with him as he had some fence to fix. So our 'field trip' began.

We went quite a few miles in the Ranger...the doors are off because the heater runs full time, so it was a fun but dusty ride.

While Grandpa checked out the fence, I enjoyed looking at these little white flowers everywhere!

You could see for miles...

....and miles.

The fence was cut and 5 wires of knotted barb wire, so it took a long time to unravel....carefully!

Then each wire had to be spliced and stretched again.

The sky was so blue, and the clouds reflected in the water so nicely.

...and there was water everywhere.

Looking back at Sheep Mtn where we had been.

More clouds in the water. This shows the grass too. I had my last 3 years of blogs printed in book form and the men have enjoyed comparing the grass, water, snow cover to other years. The blog books make a wonderful, picture journal of the year.

Of course, Jazz needed some TLC from her best friend.

We have to check the tomatoes first thing. We picked this one today (have to take turns, of course)...then cut it in 4 pieces for all to have a taste.

We made some cake mix snickerdoodles, yum!
Removing the shirts keeps them clean!

Still waiting for Spring....May 11

Seems like we wait a lot of the time, whether we are young, or older. The boys were waiting "to unload cattle"...practicing waiting! 3 days ago, we saw these flowers peeking through on the mountain behind our house.

The meadows were all melted off.

Today, I waited until the snow started melting and settling to see the greenhouse waiting for spring first, then summer...

The tricyles waiting for the boys to come down and play...

The tulips waiting...to bloom, and the lilacs to leaf out.

I bought this plant in Arizona in March when it was 6" tall, and now we are waiting for a nice fresh tomato! It has to sit inside the porch to catch some sun and keep warm.
