Monday

Can you see the little people in blue with Grpa? He went and got them in the 4 wheel drive tractor... chained up and brought them to the back door as the front door is drifted too deep. We may have between 10-12" of new snow with drifts deeper.
It is supposed to be 45 degrees by Friday, so should be all gone by then (think positive, Grma Susie!) We had some zero visibility whiteout blizzards this morning so all the calves had to come into the sheds as soon as the men could see to get them there.

Sunday....

I thought for sure by now, I would be posting tulips poking through the ground...green blades of grass....other signs of spring.... This is the reality.

Chris came to get Fischer tonight and the snow was 8" up his coveralls and still snowing hard.

Fischer watches for Grpa G and lets us know what he is doing.

Thursday

This bubbly design is the ice that the 45 mph winds with 60 mph gusts have made today. This is why the 100 mile stretch of interstate and other highway is closed. You can hardly stand up on it.

We have new snow drifts in the driveway. Note the drift on the right is still higher than the snow fence.
We have some dryer ground where they have been feeding hay. Today's weather.
Last week's good help!

Checking the corrals..

We hope to be branding in these corrals in about a month...they are deep in snow for now. George went to check the gates to this pasture...what gates? You can't see most of them, so the calves just walk over the fences. You can see the snowmachine track...we are still using that mode of transportation to check pastures, etc.

The blackbirds are a sign of spring that we look for each year. They were singing in the tree tops this morning.

Checking out the county road

The view out the driver's window to the side.
We heard that they had opened up our county road, so decided it was time to check it out! How tall is an electric pole? The snow is over half way up the pole. It has settled and melted a lot the past 2 weeks. that is what softened it so they could push through.
