September

This guy was eating tomatoes in the greenhouse. He took bites and dropped some, and trampled the plants. Luckily, we caught him before he ruined too much.
Then his friends came to call at 9:30 am.
I didn't answer the door, so they headed for the trash barrels. A 4th one came out from under the deck. Wish I was more handy with a gun!

The flowers in the greenhouse are so lush this time of year.
The tomatoes are going crazy. Cucumbers are done for the year.
The greenhouse is starting to look like fall.
We made aprons for Kate and Liz.

On the way home

We stopped at Jeremy and Amys for the 2nd night of our trip home. Amy's parents were there too.
A nice BBQ place in a nearby town finished off the evening.

Aug 4th week

This old truck is on the way to Boring convention. It is all moss covered.
The tree trimmers are improving the ocean view.
George got a king today. Happy George!!
Dave went out with a commercial crabber while George cut trees and did projects. This is supper tonight.
The grandkids had a fun time salting the slugs the last time they were out here.
A nice picture of Allison our oldest granddaughter.
We loved sleeping with the patio door open this trip.  The ocean roar is gentler in the summertime.

Way out west

Barges on the Columbia. The Astoria Bridge.
There were 10 freighters tied and waiting for cargo. I couldn't get all of them in the picture.
We took a walk to the beach.
The hydrangeas behind the house are so pretty. They dry up and are pretty then too.
Chinook marina. Lots of activity.
Hundreds of salmon fishing boats fishing is not too good, though.
We bought fresh blueberries from a stand.
George and I put out 60 bags of red bark. Ouch!!
This is the after picture.
Whales at the Astoria bridge. So much bait fish coming up the river that the salmon aren't hungry either.
Whales showing off. They haven't tipped any boats over yet.

2nd week of August

Tomatoes in the greenhouse.
George starting to develop another spring. I'm following to bring pipe.
A trip to Emmigrant Crossing. These are pioneer graves behind Dusty.
George and Dusty talking to Chris below where there are names carved in the cliff. North Platte River below.
Such good food from the garden!
George fishing the North Platte.

Sunday afternoon drive on the Overland. Grandpa caught this fish.
Beautiful evening, Buddy is part of the group.
Look at all the crawdads!

Clayton has gotten so tall. I think Grandpa Pres has shrunk some too.
Buddy sniffing a crawdad.
Brave Elizabeth Anne.

Chris showing George the area on the Overland n
George and Buddy.
A nice picture of Jeff all dressed up for town.

August first week

Beautiful clouds as I took George to his trackhoe.
Spaghetti squash in the greenhouse. I don't know how to tell when it's ripe.
George is in the grader in the back smoothing out the ground up pavement.
This has gone on for a couple of weeks. It will be nice to have no mud next time it rains. It packs down like pavement.
The long row the truck dumps before George smooths it.
Hazen got a tent for his birthday. Grandpa was waiting on an asphalt semi, so helped put it up. Will Page's kids are visiting while he helps Chris, so they got in on the excitement. Note the freshly "patched with love from grandma" jeans.
