More good times.

Frost on the car roof. It was 36 on the thermometer.
Ty and Ingrid came next. Feb 12.
Sad sad news that our friend Larry Wilhoit drowned while snorkeling in Aruba. He was 67 and our niece in law's father.
We went to Sanibel directly from the airport.

Grandma Sundin walking on the beach.
So many shells. The Red Tide, an algae bloom, kills shell animals so many are washing up on the beach.
Karen and mom washing and sorting their treasures.
Some had some stinky remains inside.
Boca Grand beach.
Cute little shore birds.
Walking and talking.
From Boca Grande lighthouse.
Watching the seashell collectors.
From the Boca Grande lighthouse museum area.

2nd week of February

Chris is plowing deep snow windrows to catch the snow from the next storm.
Chris had to snowblow the county road as the kids couldn't get to the bus, except to walk across some big snowdrifts.
George getting ready for company. They are coming in a few days. Feb 10.
Karen and mom at RSW.
We stopped at the power plant in Ft Myers. It is cold, in the 60's so the manatees are all gathering in the warm waters of the power plant.

February 5. Third day of travel

847 miles and 14 hours the 3rd day. We left the motel in Cadiz, KY at 5 am Central time and got to the house at 8 eastern. All is well and we're not too tired. We went through Tenn, and Georgia , and 2/3 of Florida!
Kate sent this picture of Pass Creek Road today. The wind has been causing road closures ever since we left!

Going south February 3

We had to leave 2 days late because of a blizzard that came through and closed roads from Rock Springs to Lincoln, NE. We got 3", Cheyenne 12", Kearney, NE 24".  I-80 was still closed in NE when we left home. High winds and blizzard warnings were coming Wednesday afternoon in our area which closed roads, so we had to get out or get snowed in again. We got as far as Sidney on snow packed slick highways, then it was closed for 2 hours. Past Sidney, it was dry. Stopped at York, NE Wed night. Then Cadiz, KY the second night.
A picture from Kearney, NE. Lots of drifting!
Lots of snow drifts at home. Buddy is ready to go to Florida!
I-80 was slick with limited visibility.
Sidney parking lots were packed with snow and semis. Police were out directing semi parking. They were all along the sides of the streets. Walmart parking was full of trucks. Someone was directing parking, then turning them away. We watched the road. The minute we saw traffic start moving, we got going. We were at the head of the line so were ahead of the craziness of hundreds of semis speeding. The roads were dry.
Nebraska sunrise out of York.
St Louis arch. 780 miles 2nd day.

End of January

This week we made a flying trip to see Scott and Renee in their new place. Fun to make cookies with Chase.
Their house has a wonderful view of the mountains to the left.
The roads south of Casper were so slick with terrible winds. One car was on its top, we about blew sideways off the road!  Makes me not feel so bad about heading to Florida for a little while.
These clouds on the top of Elk Mountain were caused by wind.
The neighboring grandkids came down to spend one last night with Grandma and Grandpa.

January 22

Road trip for a fast visit to Jeremy's and Amy's.
Our nearby grandkids are always ready to travel with us.
They have at least 2' on the level in this Utah town. Nearing our destination.
Jace has a nice snowball fort built on one side of the driveway. Rory's is on the other side.
A steep sledding hill across from the house provided a lot of snowy fun.
The indoor basketball game kept everyone busy. They even had a cheering section to the left.
The snowy school yard behind the house.
Dusty contemplating the foam pit at the end of the trampoline at Get Air.

January 2016

Kristy and Owen's house over at Elk Mountain. It just keeps snowing!
Cleaning the driveway before Sunday.
The roads so slick and the winds were so strong they were blowing the gravel away as the plow trucks were laying it down.
Our snowy yard.
The snow piled behind the snow fences is amazing!

Elizabeth came and spent the morning with me. We were matching princess cards.
Lots of snow behind these snow fences.
We flew to Denver January 16. The interstate closed ahead of us, Cheyenne to Rawlins. We were able to cross over and turn back and spend the night with Georges folks. It opened at lunchtime Sunday. This was the scene for 150 miles. The roads have been closed for half a day for the 4 days since that. More snow and more wind.
Bumper to bumper semis for 150 miles after road was closed all night.
