Oyster soup

Mark and Sandy invited us to supper before g meeting.  They rented a house a couple miles from where we are.

Dredging the oysters in flour.

A field trip....

George, Mark, Sandy, and Taylor walked to the beach.  A squall came up and rained and hailed on them.

We tried to dig clams Saturday.

Visiting the Interpretive center for the oyster beds.

An oyster processing plant.

I don't know if these oyster shells were already empty or not.
A fellow was down below shoveling oyster shells onto this elevator to load the truck.

An oyster thief!

Rainy day

Grandpa G going to set the neighbors dumpster up.  The wind is really strong.  The power is out, and the rain is something!

Down the hill and through the woods.

The waves are really rolling.

Clamming morning

Lots of  people out at daylight this morning searching for clams.
George and Bruce on the left.

George is search of  clams.

More people than we have ever seen on this beach.

A successful hunter showed us his catch.

Seeing new things....

The day started out ice covered from our trip yesterday.
I have never been on Interstate 90 from Billings west to Ellensburg, WA.  It took 12 hours of constant driving.  Thank goodness the roads were dry.  We crossed the Columbia river on a bridge east of Ellensburg...never did that before.  We always go to the west coast via I-84 on the south side of the Columbia...that is shorter, but we needed to take this route to pick up some things this time.  At first, the mountains were SO beautiful...as the hours wore on, the curvy, up hill and down hill road got kind of tiresome.  George commented to me how good the dog was in her cage...never complained a bit!!  Was he hinting??
The frost covered windshield was kind of pretty.
Lots of pretty mountain scenes in Montana.
There has been a lot of snow here, not just yesterday!
It would have been slick if the temp was colder here.  It was 8 degrees for a long ways today.
One of the 3 states we went through was Idaho.
A good way to end the loooong day!  A bed and breakfast in Ellensburg, WA.
15 pillows on the bed!  We had our pick!

On the road again!

Heading to the coast....the wind wreaked havoc on our tarp, we could see snow ahead.

It took us an hour to get the tarp tied down.

On the way to the dentist!

Heading down the county road to the dentist.

The highway dept has the capability to turn the speed limit down when needed...It WAS needed!!

Lots of highway patrol to slow people down and help with wrecks.  We slid into the road closure gate! Oops!
