July branding days

The TA Ranch next door had 60 riders coming from near and far for their branding. Some were friends, owners, neighbors, and random mothers with children. Some of them were going to help us on Friday. Tuesday night the TA got lots of rain at the place they were going to brand. So plan B was to brand at our place Wednesday. We didn't have the food cooked, but they had already ordered it catered, so no problem. We had a grassy field behind my house where they could drag calves in with no mud. Trucks and trailers started pulling in early in the morning. Colton directed parking. At least 27 trucks and trailers pulled in.  Mothers with children (20 or more total) started sitting all over my back deck, playing, pulling branches off my trees, eating snacks. The deck made an ideal grandstand to watch the branding. We branded over 1000 calves that day.
