Getting ready for the flood...in Elk Mtn

Every year I print up my blog in a book.  We enjoy referring to past years to see how tall the grass was "at the same time last year" for example...so this post is also a journal.  The Wyoming National Guard has units in both Elk Mtn and Saratoga.  The mountain snowpack is well over 200% of normal.  This is because of more than average snow this winter, then lots of snow and freezing temps this spring so it has not melted as usual.  All the towns along the North Platte River are ready to flood.  This is happening in all the rivers in the midwest.  The Post Office...

The old Elk Mountain Trading Company, sandbagged all around.
 The elementary School
These are wire cages full of sand/gravel covered with plastic.
